Parks and Beaches
No trip to Santa Barbara would be complete without a visit to the beach.
Well, there are quite a lot to choose from. The very well maintained beaches
and parks feature both natural and historical attractions. Overnight camping
and picnic spaces can be booked in advance. Resident Rangers provide a
lot of information on the history as well as flora and fauna.
The City
These clips provide a brief "overview" on various aspects of
Santa Barbara today, and by no means are they to be considered complete.
People have been living on the land for over 30,000 years and by the time
the Spanish arrived the third of a succession of Indian cultures was in
residence. Street names such as Anacapa and Anapamu are a testament to
the rich history.
Recreation
It would be difficult to be bored in Santa Barbara with so much to do
on land, in the air and on (and in) the water. From skateboarding and
bicycling, to parasailing and hang-gliding, and from scuba diving and
snorkeling to riding the waves on a Jet Ski, sailboat or motorboat; there
are many activities to consider - both as a participant and a spectator.
Attractions
Given its architectural and cultural diversity, there is certainly much
to see in Santa Barbara. There are several tour operators and walking
excursions to occupy the body and the mind, both in the city and along
the trails through the hills. Also, beyond the world-famous kelp beds,
both whale and dolphin watching, for instance, can be done while on a
boat or atop a cliff.
